Median Age by Neighbourhood
The median age of each census tract (neighbourhood of 2,500–8,000 people) from the 2021 Census. Zoom and pan to your own area, and hover for the neighbourhood’s full age mix and population. Census tracts cover cities and larger towns; sparsely populated rural areas aren’t divided into tracts, so they appear blank.
Tracts around universities have median ages in the low 20s, new outer suburbs cluster in the early 30s as young families move where homes are larger and more affordable, and some established communities have median ages above 60. Compare this map with the median household income and home value maps; they share the same census tracts, so you can compare who lives in a neighbourhood and what living there costs.
This detailed view lives on its own page (≈3 MB of boundary data) so the main Population & Growth page stays fast to load.
